Thurston Group welcomes Steve Smith as Storplan General Manager

Specialist fabrication business Storplan has welcomed Steve Smith as its new General Manager, following its acquisition by Thurston Group earlier this year.

New General Manager for Storplan
We’re pleased to announce that Storplan has appointed a new General Manager to drive its next phase of growth.
Steve Smith joins with extensive experience managing large-scale logistics and warehouse operations. Most recently, he spent nearly four years at a leading distribution firm, overseeing more than 500 staff and managing distribution, warehousing, fulfilment, and logistics strategy for a business with annual revenues exceeding £500 million.
Steve will use his expertise in improving financial performance, productivity, and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) to lead a team of 20 at Storplan’s York manufacturing site, working closely with Thurston Group’s Production Director, Dan Pollard.
His focus will be on unlocking Storplan’s full potential and improving EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) by capitalising on opportunities in racking, mezzanine systems, and warehouse optimisation, particularly amid rising capacity costs.
Earlier this year, Thurston Group acquired Storplan to expand its capability in delivering complex modular construction projects, structural steel works, and specialist fabrication solutions including warehouse racking and bespoke builds.
Steve’s plan for Storplan
Steve Smith said:
