The contract included the design, manufacture, and installation of a single bay Gatehouse comprising a Control Room, Lobby, Plant Room, Disabled WC, Driver’s WC, Beverage Area, and Cleaners’ Store. The external facade includes a bespoke brick skin which provides perspective to the building.

Thurston Group worked closely with the Clients appointed Management Consultants, DSP Construction Management, throughout the design, manufacture, and installation stages to ensure the end-users expectations were met. During the contract, a number of scheduled meetings took place including an internal contract review meeting and handover meetings where the estimating team detailed the requirements to all departments involved in the contract, after which point the designated Project Manager took over as client liaison until the completion of the contract.

The projects team including designers and the cost controller work with the designated Project Manager to manage projects from inception to completion. This included working in partnership with the client to define their building needs and hand in hand with the TBS production team to ensure the completion of work to high-quality standards. Once the building was delivered to site, the project team were on hand to support the site operatives and subcontractors. Through shorter reporting lines and a simple management structure, we were able to deliver quicker responses to any issues faced by our customer and ensure the close management of the project.

The cooperation and effective coordination of work with other contractors was principally the responsibility of the Projects team led by the designated Project Manager who attended regular client meetings held involving various parties alongside the client (architects, sub-contractors, end-user representatives, etc.) to discuss any issues arising that required our attention and concerns any of the parties were having with regards the progress of the project. The progress of the fit-out against the programme issued by Thurston Group at the outset of the contract was closely monitored to ensure effective management of all trades employed to achieve the desired hand-over date.
