Contract type: Turnkey package

Procurement route: Unspecified

GIFA: 10 bays

Timescale: 12 weeks

The brief

The brief was to design, manufacture, and install a 10-bay Urgent Care Centre with integrated medical and support facilities.

The challenges

The build needed to take place with minimal disruption to the fully-operational A&E department.

The solution

Thurston manufactured a bespoke ten bay modular Urgent Care Unit, including groundworks, as part of a turnkey package for West Middlesex Hospital.

Designed to integrate into the existing hospital building, this brand-new facility featured fully-equipped treatment rooms and triage areas and was delivered with all necessary medical equipment. The facility also came with counselling rooms, nurses stations and a reception area, as well as a range of basic amenities including WC facilities for both staff and patients, and disabled facilities.

Using modular construction meant the project could take place offsite reducing the amount of disruption to the hospital.

West Middlesex Hospital said, “Both the staff and management are delighted with the building”.

Due to the high-demand for sixth-form places at Foxford School and Community Arts Centre in the Longford area of Coventry, four new teaching spaces were required to accommodate an additional 120 students and six new staff members.
