Thurston Group are presently recruiting a Management Accountant based at our Wakefield site to join the ever growing and successful team on a full time, permanent contract.

buildings across multiple sectors including construction, healthcare, education, nuclear and

Key duties and responsibilities
This is a key role in the Finance team and duties include, but not limited to:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts. Comprising of sales and margin
reconciliations, overhead control and review, accruals and prepayments and compiling
different reports to all relevant stakeholders
- Assist with the preparation of the board pack report including commentary
- Variance analysis to support monthly management accounts
- Provide and further develop insightful reporting & analysis, provide challenge and general
financial support to ensure robust cost control and alignment to strategic plans
- Processing subcontractor invoices, preparation of subcontractor accrual for month end and
calculation of subcontractor retentions
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Periodic overhead reviews with budget holders
- Support the wider finance team covering accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
when required
- Assist with the annual budget process
- Assist with the implementation of digital solutions to increase efficiency and standardisation
of internal processes, both financial and non-financial
- Ad hoc tasks as required by the Finance Leadership team
The successful applicant will have:
- Preferably newly qualified or finalist (CIMA or equivalent)
- Ability to challenge and influence stakeholders, build credibility and rapport. Be able to
demonstrate the ability to “take people with them” across all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Strong communication skills: accurate, considered, persuasive and succinct
- Curiosity, collaborative, inquisitive, enthusiastic and proactive ‘hands on’ attitude
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing, engineering and/or construction
would be desirable but not essential
- Attention to detail
- Highly analytical
- Advanced excel skills
