We’re proud to have been awarded the RoSPA Gold Award for our health and safety performance over the past year, reflecting our team’s dedication to health and safety. Here, Janet Sanders, our SHEQ Officer, takes you through what the award means for us as a firm.

What is the RoSPA Gold Award?
The RoSPA Gold Award is a prestigious international accolade presented by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to organisations demonstrating outstanding, long-term commitment to health and safety standards.
It reflects exceptional safety management, proactive risk control, a strong safety culture, and leadership commitment, with winners receiving global recognition for their dedication to workplace wellbeing.
All winners of the RoSPA Gold Award, including Thurston, have achieved a high-level of performance in health and safety over the past year, demonstrating well developed management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk, and very low levels of error, harm and loss.
Why winning the RoSPA Gold Award matters in modular construction
Winning the RoSPA Gold Award signifies our commitment to world-leading health and safety practices. As a modular construction firm, this is not only important for ensuring the wellbeing of our staff, but for building customer confidence and validating our high standards across our four manufacturing sites.
We picked up the Silver Award in 2021, and we’re proud to have continued on an upward trajectory from there, securing the Gold Award last year.
Achieving this standard again in 2025 is a fantastic recognition of the dedication shown across all our teams, and in particular our Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) colleagues, who keep safety at the forefront of everything we do.
We’ve worked hard in making the award happen, and it’s been a great team effort – thank you to our production staff across our sites for their work in putting health and safety first!
